Poor Scott Thorman

Scott Thorman just got a kick in the balls on Monday. With Schuerholz making the trade for Mark Teixeira, Scott may never see any playing time. Some will say this is a good thing. Teixeira brings a lot of excitement to a team that is in need of a boost. The Braves have had absolutely no production from first base, but that will change. A big Thank You goes out to the Texas Rangers for being so terrible and recognizing it. John Daniels and his organization unloaded their best player and a pretty darn good pitcher in Ron Mahay. We did have to say bye to Jarrod Saltalamachia (spell check told me to fuck off). I'm sure he's going to put up good numbers, but I think Brian McCann is OK. Teixeira's ability has been compared to that of Flex Allman, and we all know what he's capable of.

The next few years are looking like a thing of beauty. The Braves are scoring runs, Andruw Jones will not be back after this year, and Chuck James is looking like Tom Glavine reinvented. Also on Monday, the Braves front office took a huge dump on the Kansas City Royals. Octavio Dotel for Kyle Davies? Are you serious? Kyle Davies will go down in history as, statistically, one of the worst pitchers EVER. Dotel had Tommy John surgery a few years back, but he is pretty close to where he was in the '01-02 season (which was really good). The starting pitching staff will continue lean on badasses like Chuck James and Corey Dixon, so nothing to worry about there. Schuerholz and the Braves aren't bull shitting this time. The team was bad last year, but the GM has pieced together a really really good lineup, so put your New York Sand Gnats posters away fags.
